For the Casserole
  • 1 lb Ground beef Substitute with ground turkey, chicken, or vegetarian options if desired.
  • 32 oz Frozen French fries Use crinkle-cut or regular fries, or tater tots for a twist.
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese Mix different cheeses for varied flavors.
  • 1 cup Diced onions Optional for a sweet and savory layer.
  • 1 cup Diced pickles Optional for tanginess.
  • 1/2 cup Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Mustard
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise Can be replaced with Greek yogurt or sour cream.
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder Optional.
  • 1 tsp Onion powder Optional.
For Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley Optional garnish.

Equipment

  • skillet
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Cooking spray

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large skillet, heat over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook for 6-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess grease, then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Once the beef is seasoned, mix in the ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. If you're using diced onions and pickles, add them now. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  3. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter. Lay down an even layer of frozen French fries. Pour the beef mixture evenly over the fries.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the beef and fries.
  5. Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Look for melted, bubbly, slightly golden cheese.
  6. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
