  • 1 tsp Dried Thyme Fresh thyme may be used
  • 0.5 tsp Paprika Smoked paprika for a touch of smokiness
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
  • 0.5 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese Feta cheese for Mediterranean twist

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Add the chicken sausage, cooking for 3-5 minutes until browned and crispy. Remove from skillet, leaving drippings.
  2. In the same skillet, add more olive oil if needed and sauté the onion for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Add garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
  3. Add orzo to the skillet, stirring with onion and garlic and toast for about 1 minute.
  4. Pour in chicken broth, stirring in thyme, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream and cheddar cheese until melted into a smooth sauce.
  6. Mix in the cooked chicken sausage and any optional ingredients. Heat through for an additional minute.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley, extra cheese, and lemon zest before serving.
