Step-by-Step Instructions

  2. Combine the white cake mix with eggs, oil, and water as per package instructions.
  3. Bake for 28-32 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  4. Combine undrained crushed pineapple and granulated sugar in a saucepan and boil for 5 minutes.
  5. Allow cake to cool for 10 minutes, poke holes, then pour hot pineapple syrup over it.
  6. Cool completely at room temperature for approximately 2 hours.
  7. Beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  8. Frost the cooled cake generously with cream cheese frosting and sprinkle toasted pecans on top.
