- Peel and cube the Honeycrisp apples. Melt butter, add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cook until tender and bubbling, then add cornstarch slurry. Chill.
- Mix flour, yeast, and salt. Heat milk, applesauce, and sugar, then combine with dry ingredients. Knead until elastic and let rise.
- Roll the dough, spread butter, layer filling, cut into strips, and shape rolls. Place in greased pan.
- Cover the rolls and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 28-34 minutes until golden.
- Make caramel sauce by dissolving sugar until amber, whisk in cream and butter. Cool slightly.
- Beat cream cheese, butter, caramel, vanilla, and salt. Gradually add powdered sugar.
- Cool rolls briefly, drizzle with icing and remaining caramel sauce. Serve warm.
