Preparation
- Combine strawberries with sugar and lemon juice in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for 10-15 minutes until thickened. Cool and blend into a puree.
- In a bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix wet and dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-8 minutes until smooth and slightly tacky.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, roll out into a rectangle, spread the cooled filling, and roll into a log. Slice into 1-2 inch pieces.
- Place the sliced rolls in a greased dish, cover, and let rise for 30-60 minutes until puffed.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the glaze by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and reserved puree until smooth.
- Cool rolls for 10 minutes and glaze them. Serve warm.
