  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red-pepper flakes adjust for heat level
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger substitute with fresh if preferred
Beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil canola or grapeseed
  • 3 cloves fresh minced garlic
  • 1 pound ground beef substitute as needed
Garnish
  • 2 sliced green onions chopped
  • sesame seeds optional

Method
 

Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, crushed red-pepper flakes, and ground ginger. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Introduce ground beef, breaking it apart and cooking until browned, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the sauce mixture and add green onions. Stir and simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. Serve immediately over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and additional green onions.
