Making the Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix ricotta cheese, sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs and blend well.
- In another bowl, whisk together cake mix, water, oil, and eggs until the batter is smooth.
- Pour the chocolate batter into the greased dish, then gently pour the ricotta mixture on top.
- Bake for 1 to 1.5 hours until set; let cool for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- In a separate bowl, mix pudding with cold milk until it thickens, about 2 minutes.
- Fold in the whipped topping until blended, then spread over the cooled cake.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Slice and serve chilled or at room temperature.
