  • 1 cup Monterey Jack Cheese Any melting cheese works as a substitute.
  • 1 medium Onion (diced) Sauté until translucent for sweetness.
  • 1 packet Taco Seasoning Consider using homemade seasoning.
Sandwich
  • 2 pieces Hoagie Rolls Sub rolls can be used if hoagies are unavailable.
  • 1 medium Tomato (diced) Can substitute with diced avocado.
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro (chopped) Omit if preferred.
  • 1 piece Jalapeño (sliced) Optional for spice.
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise Flavored mayo or mustard can be alternatives.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil and sauté the diced onion until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook for 5-7 minutes until fully browned.
  3. Sprinkle taco seasoning over the beef and mix well; cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Layer cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese over the beef, cover, and cook on low until melted.
  5. Slice hoagie rolls in half and toast them for 2-3 minutes, optionally spreading butter.
  6. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted roll, fill with cheesy beef mixture, and top with tomatoes, cilantro, and jalapeños.
  7. Place the top half of the rolls over the fillings, slice in half, and serve warm.
