Step-by-Step Instructions for Chocolate Chip Banana Bars
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the unsalted butter and brown sugar. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add the large egg, vanilla extract, and fine salt to the creamed mixture. Mix on low speed until well combined.
- Gradually sift in all-purpose flour while mixing on low speed. Stir just until combined, then fold in mashed overripe bananas and chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 33-37 minutes until edges are golden and center is set. Test with a toothpick for doneness.
- Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes. Cut into 16 squares and allow to cool completely before serving.
