Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla extract until combined.
  6. If using, add walnuts and mix gently.
  7. Pour batter into the greased pan filling it about 3/4 full.
  8. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
