Preparation Steps
- Begin by peeling and slicing 4 to 6 firm apples into even wedges.
- Preheat a well-seasoned cast-iron skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the hot skillet and add 1/2 cup of brown sugar, stirring until smooth.
- Carefully add the prepared apple slices to the skillet, stirring gently.
- Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of cinnamon over the apples and stir to combine.
- Continue cooking the apples for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until tender and golden brown.
- If desired, mix 1 teaspoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water and add it to the skillet in the last 2 minutes.
- For an adult twist, add a splash of bourbon at the end and let it simmer for 1 to 2 minutes.
