  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Omit if using salted butter.
  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips Choose your favorite type; can add nuts or dried fruit.

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line the cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup of salted butter, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 3/4 cup of brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 1/4 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in 2 cups of chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion out roughly 1.5 tablespoons of dough onto your prepared cookie sheets, leaving about 2 inches between scoops.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are golden brown while the centers remain soft.
  8. Let the cookies cool on the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling.
