  • ¼ cup Mayonnaise Omit or replace with more sour cream.
  • 1 can Diced Green Chiles Use jalapeños for spicier version.
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (Fiesta Blend) Any cheese blend can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can enhance the flavor.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9x13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with diced onion and chopped bell pepper for 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning, diced green chiles, and garlic powder to the skillet and mix well, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine biscuit mix, water, sour cream, and mayonnaise until smooth.
  5. Layer the beef mixture, followed by half of the biscuit mixture in the casserole dish.
  6. Spread salsa over the biscuit mixture, then top with half of the shredded cheese and cover with remaining biscuit mix.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
  8. After baking, add remaining cheese on top and return to oven for an additional 5-7 minutes.
  9. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
